The Roman Severin lived here in a hermitage and founded a monastery near Favianis. Severin is a devout Christian who once came to us from the East. He is familiar with the Germanic Rugians and often negotiates with them. To do so he crossed the Danube and travelled north, which was very dangerous. Germanic tribes especially the robber bands of the Alamanni repeatedly invaded Roman territory. They plundered and set fire to the forts.
